Jeehye Song is a South Korean contemporary artist, born in Seoul in 1991, who lives and works between Düsseldorf and Seoul. She studied printmaking and metal art in South Korea before graduating from the prestigious Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2021 as a master student of Professor Andreas Schulze.
Song is known for her distinctive figurative and surreal paintings, in which scenes from everyday life are transformed into strange, humorous and sometimes dreamlike situations. Her paintings often feature simplified, cartoon-like figures placed in familiar environments, creating a fascinating balance between the ordinary and the surreal.
Much of her work is inspired by personal experiences, emotions and everyday observations. Her paintings can almost be viewed as a visual diary, exploring themes such as identity, isolation, vulnerability and the relationship between reality and imagination.
Song has exhibited internationally in Germany, South Korea, Denmark, Italy, Finland, the UK and the United States. She had a solo exhibition, Head in the Sand, at HAGD Contemporary in Aalborg in 2024. In 2025, she received the Kunstpreis Junger Westen, a significant German award for emerging artists
