Henrik Godsk

Denmark 1975
Henrik Godsk is a Danish contemporary artist, born in Hjørring in 1975 and based in Northern Jutland. He is best known for his distinctive geometric portraits and androgynous figures, characterized by clean lines, simplified forms and carefully balanced compositions.

Godsk comes from a seventh-generation travelling family and grew up around his family's travelling funfair in Denmark and Norway. He began painting at a very young age, working alongside his father and grandfather on fairground façades. This background remains an important influence in his work, particularly in his use of geometry, colour and decorative patterns.

His paintings combine influences from Cubism, Modernism and artists such as Picasso and Modigliani with elements of folk culture and his own family history. The result is a highly recognizable visual language that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Godsk has exhibited internationally in cities including London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and Stockholm, and his work is held in several notable public and private collections, including the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid and the Rothko Museum in Latvia
